Valcourt Fireplaces: Which One Is Right for You?

Valcourt builds wood burning fireplaces that range from heat-focused, high efficiency units to decorative models designed as a room's focal point. Every model in this guide is a wood burning fireplace, so the real decision comes down to how much heat you want, how large a firebox you need, and which door and faceplate style suits your space. Here is how the lineup compares.

How to Choose a Valcourt Fireplace

Heat vs. ambiance: Valcourt's lineup splits into two groups. The High Efficiency models (Lafayette II and Waterloo) list heat output ratings in BTU/hr on their product pages and are built to serve as a heat source. The Decorative models (Manoir, Antoinette, and St-Laurent) focus on the view of the fire, with features like retractable or guillotine glass doors.

Firebox size: Firebox volume ranges from 2.5 cu. ft. on the Lafayette II to 6.4 cu. ft. on the St-Laurent. General guidance: a larger firebox holds more wood per load, which typically means longer burns and more heat, while a smaller unit suits smaller rooms.

Venting: Check the chimney size each model requires. The Lafayette II requires a 6" chimney and venting; the Waterloo, Manoir, Antoinette, and St-Laurent each require 8" chimney and venting.

Style: Choose between traditional arched or crown-style faceplates, sliding double doors, or a clean, modern linear look with a guillotine door.

General guidance: Wood burning fireplace installations are subject to local building codes, and professional installation is recommended. Check with your local authority before you buy.
